CRUCIAL SUPPORTING ROLE FROM HOSE AS STRIKERS KEEP HOPES ALIVE

Adam Hose played an important supporting role to keep alive Adelaide Strikers hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Big Bash League in Australia.

The Worcestershire batter scored an unbeaten 25 off 21 balls as the Strikers defeated home side Hobart Hurricanes by eight wickets.

Hose shared in an unbeaten century stand with Jake Weatherald (80 not out) as the Strikers chased down a 168 target with 4.1 overs to spare.

They added 108 in just 8.3 overs after joining forces at 61-2 and victory lifted the Strikers back into the fourth qualifying spot.

They are one point ahead of Melbourne Stars, who have a game in hand, heading into their final fixture against Sydney Thunder on Sunday.

The Strikers have to win and hope other results go their way.

Hose, who enjoyed a successful first season at New Road, struck one six over deep mid wicket off Nathan Ellis.

The third and fourth placed teams will face each other in the Knockout round with the victors progressing to the Challenger – the loser of the first versus second meeting – for a place in the final.
