COUNTY UNDER-18S TO FACE MALVERN COLLEGE AND CHESHIRE

Worcestershire CCC Under-18s are gearing up for two white-ball games in the space of 24 hours.

They will make the short trip this afternoon (Tuesday) to take on Malvern College in a 40 over game which gets underway at 1.30pm.

The game has become a traditional fixture, with the County having forged strong linked with the College.

Several players have graduated from Malvern College into the County senior squad in recent years, including Jack Haynes and Alex Milton.

The County have also used the College as a regular winter training base from November to March in recent years.

The Under-18s will then take on Cheshire at Elworth in a 50 over match tomorrow (Wednesday), beginning at 11am.

Worcestershire CCC Academy Coach, Elliot Wilson, said: “The Malvern College fixture is an excellent game for us. We have a wonderful partnership with the School as we do with Bromsgrove, Shrewsbury, King’s Worcester and RGS Worcester.

“It has been a flourishing relationship over the last ten years with the likes of Jack Haynes, Alex Milton, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Ben Twohig coming through Malvern College and having been on the staff here at Worcestershire.

“To play a game against the College is a good opportunity to spend a day at Malvern and build on that relationship which is going from strength to strength.

“The Cheshire game is more of an Under-18 development side, more looking at guys who are on the fringes of the Under-18 squad.”

Joe Stanley will captain the Under-18s on both days.
