Worcestershire CCC Under-18s are gearing up for a busy Bank Holiday weekend with a trio of matches, including two in the ECB regionalised 50 over competition.
The Under-18s, who include several Academy players in their squad, will take on Nottinghamshire in a friendly at Lady Bay Sports Club on Sunday.
On the following day – the Bank Holiday Monday – they will host Staffordshire in the 50 over tournament at Kidderminster’s Chester Road ground.
Then on Tuesday, the Under-18s will battle with the home side, Derbyshire, at Ticknall in the same competition.
This game was originally due to take place on May 13 but was rescheduled.
The Under-18s will be looking to turn the tables against Derbyshire after going down by 21 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method in the home fixture at Kidderminster.
Academy Coach Elliot Wilson said: “We’ve had a couple of weeks off with some not very good weather, but now we’ve got masses of cricket going on all through the pathway.
“We’ve got some Academy cricket coming back on board, pre-season camps for Under-14s and Under-15s at Wolverhampton and some young Academy games later on in the week.
“But this Sunday to Tuesday, the Under-18s are playing three games against Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire with the latter two part of the ECB organised fixtures.
“In the first game against Derbyshire, we came out on the wrong end of the Duckworth-Lewis Method, and they played a little bit better than us.
“But now we are looking forward to playing some good cricket in this trio of matches.”
