COUNTY STAR MOEEN HEADS TO ABU DHABI AFTER LOSING SUPER LEAGUE FINALE

Moeen Ali is heading to Abu Dhabi for the T10 League after his brief spell in the Mzansi Super League ended in defeat for his side Cape Town Blitz.

The England and Worcestershire all-rounder and his team-mates were bowled out for 84 – the lowest total in the competition’s short history – against home side Paarl Rocks.

Moeen, batting at number three, made 13 off 13 balls including two fours in an over from Ferisco Adams.

But in the next over he came down the wicket to Bjorn Fortuin and was caught at long off by Cameron Delport.

The Blitz were bowled out in 15.4 overs and lost by 86 runs.

Moeen had earlier bowled one over for nine runs – the seventh bowler used – as Paarl totalled170-9 in their 20 overs.

He was hit for six via a slog sweep by Dwaine Pretorius but in the same over Faf Du Plessis (38) was run out attempting a second run.

Moeen had scored 25 and taken 1-21 in his other appearance in the tournament in the win over Jozi Stars.

The 32-year-old is the ‘Icon Player’ for Team Abu Dhabi in the T10 League in which Pat Brown and Ross Whiteley will also be participating for Karnataka Tuskers.
