COUNTY ANNOUNCE 13 STRONG SQUAD FOR TWO-DAY FRIENDLY AGAINST WARWICKSHIRE

Worcestershire CCC have named a 13 strong squad for the two-day red ball friendly against Warwickshire CCC at Edgbaston beginning tomorrow.

Newcomer Jake Libby, signed in the winter from Nottinghamshire – is part of the group which will bat for one entire day and bowl and field for the other.

The game will represent Worcestershire CCC’s last action before the launch of their Bob Willis Trophy (BWT) group campaign against Gloucestershire at Bristol, starting on Saturday, August 1.

The County also participated in a three-day inter-squad match at Worcestershire CCC last week as part of their warm-up programme.

Head Coach Alex Gidman said: “The intra-squad match was a really good competitive game and all the guys applied themselves really well.

“It was the first step up from practices in the middle and some batsmen occupied the crease for long periods of time and the bowlers had a good work-out.

“The Warwickshire game is going to be the next step up in that practice sense and the players are looking forward to it.

“We will bat for one day and bowl for the other regardless of how many wickets we take or lose and we are going to play 13.”
