County Academy Overcome Worcs Under-17S By Four Wickets

Worcestershire Academy defeated Worcestershire Under-17s in a 50 over match played at Worcester Royal Grammar School.

The Under 17's won the toss and chose to bat and scored 215-9 off their 50 overs.

James Hammond top-scored with an unbeaten 48 off 54 balls, with other contributions from Josh Tongue (37) and Callum Turner (35).

The wicket-takers for the Academy were Dominic Badger (4-31 off 10), Liam Smith (3-33 off nine), George Scrimshaw (1-28 off eight) and Zain Hassan (1-34 off five).

In reply Mahaaz Ahmed scored an unbeaten 70 off 91 balls, with nine fours.

Will Fraine made a run-a-ball 44 as the Academy won with 5.3 overs to spare, finishing on 216-6.

For the Under 17's, Barney Morgan took 2-28 off seven, Deon Patel (1-18 off four), Zak Smith (1-19 off five), Billy Cox (1-27 off six) and Aadil Rashid (1-30 off six).
