Joe Clarke has returned home with the England Lions – and is now waiting to see if he will be selected for their second half of the winter programme.
The Worcestershire batsman was part of the Lions side which enjoyed a 100% success rate in three ODIs against the UAE in Dubai and the four-day match with Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.
National Selector James Whitaker and the other England selectors will now finalise the Lions squad for a five week trip to Sri Lanka in February-March.
The tour will include two four-day games and five one-day matches against Sri Lanka 'A'.
Clarke was part of the Lions squad which did battle with Sri Lanka 'A' – and Pakistan 'A' – in last summer's Tri-Series in which they came out on top.
The 20-year-old has experienced mixed fortunes in UAE during the past two weeks.
He had a top score of 42 in the third ODI against UAE – in which he also kept wicket – but managed only 0 and 1 in the Afghanistan clash.
Meanwhile, Worcestershire Academy player Josh Dell made 22 in a practice match for the Young Lions in Dubai.
County paceman George Scrimshaw is also part of the Young Lions squad but did not feature in the warm-up encounter.
The Young Lions will fly home on December 21 and then a squad will be announced for two Tests and three ODIs against India Under-19s in February.
