Clare Boycott believes the current Worcestershire Women’s Rapids squad is the strongest during her decade and a half as a player.
The all-rounder has clocked up more than 200 appearances for the County since making her debut in 2008.
She skippered the side for the majority of last season’s successful West Midlands Regional Cup campaign and is part of the squad for tomorrow’s ECB 50 Over Championship opener against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
Boycott said: “Winter training has been really good this year and a couple of new faces, girls at City Of Worcester University have joined and looking really good.
“Is this the strongest squad I’ve seen? I would definitely say so. A lot of good youngsters coming up as well as a lot of experienced players.
“I think we’ve got all bases covered.
“People like Amy Maund and Phoebe Brett have made big strides. I’m looking forward to watching Amy bowl again.
“Hopefully she repeats last year’s heroics against Warwickshire on Sunday, four in an over and a hat-trick!
“Phoebe, she is just quality. There is a lot of depth this year and looking forward to the season.”
Boycott added: “It’s always good against the Bears. Our rivalry has been a little bit more evenly matched in recent years.
“They always used to beat us but we have had a few wins recently so it should be a good game.”
