Worcestershire Seconds tail-enders showed plenty of endurance in making Warwickshire Seconds wait for their victory on the third day of the four-day clash at Coventry and North Warwicks CC.
The visitors had resumed at 55-4 in their second innings and were quickly reduced to 75-8 with Keith Barker doing most of the damage.
But then pace duo Pat Brown and Charlie Morris dug in to extend play well into the afternoon session before Warwickshire sealed an innings and 163 runs success.
The ninth wicket pair added a defiant 62 in 23 overs before Brown, having made 34 off 89 balls in just under two hours, was caught at second slip.
Even then, further resistance came from Morris and last man George Scrimshaw who added 34 in 13 overs before the latter (8) was pouched at first slip.
It left Morris undefeated on 44 from 104 balls with five fours and he held up Warwickshire for two and a half hours.
The last two wickets survived a combined total of 36 overs compared to the first eight batsmen being dismissed in 35.1 overs.
Barker made the first breakthrough of the day when Alex Milton (3) shouldered arms and was bowled.
His next two overs also brought him wickets with Ben Twohig (0) leg before and Jack Shantry (0) clean bowled.
Ross Whiteley made a patient 15 before he was caught behind off Chris Wright but a pre-lunch finished seemed likely
until Brown and Morris got their heads down.
