BPL ROUND-UP – ACADEMY DUO MAKE THEIR MARK AND RUNS FOR EDAVALATH

Worcestershire Academy player, Ollie Walker, struck a century for Himley in their Birmingham and District Premier League 80 run win over Dorridge.

Walker went to the wicket with Himley 10-2 and hit an unbeaten 101 in a total of 206-5 from 55 overs.

His 142 ball knock contained three sixes and seven fours and he added 148 for the fourth wicket with Navindu Vithanage (76).

Walker’s efforts were backed up by the Himley bowlers as Dorridge were bowled out for 126 in 44.3 overs.

Academy captain, Joe Stanley, was amongst the wickets for Wolverhampton in their six wicket win over Kidderminster.

Stanley came on first change and had figures of 14-4-22-3 as Kidderminster were bowled out for 130 – a total overtaken by Wolverhampton in 23.5 overs.

Reehan Edavalth top-scored with 81 for Barnards Green but was on the losing side in a high-scoring game with Halesowen.

The opener faced 106 balls and hit 12 fours and shared in a third wicket stand of 92 with ex Worcestershire player George Rhodes (52) as Barnards Green totalled 253-8.

But another former Worcestershire player in Alexei Kervezee, who had taken 4-44, was unbeaten on 116 for Halesowen who triumphed by four wickets with 10 balls to spare.
