BOYCOTT WINS WOMEN’S RAPIDS AWARD FOR SECOND SUCCESSIVE YEAR

Long-serving all-rounder Clare Boycott won the Worcestershire Women’s Rapids Player Of The Year Award for the second time running.

Boycott, who made her debut for Worcestershire as an 11-year-old, captained the side in the absence of the injured Chloe Hill for the majority of the successful West Midlands Regional Cup campaign.

She finished as the competition’s leading run scorer as the Rapids went one better, after finishing runners-up in 2022.

Boycott has appeared in all age groups in a career spanning 18 years so far and clocked up 200 plus appearances for the County.

Spinner Phoebe Brett was voted the Women’s Rapids Young Player Of The Year.

She stepped up from Under-15 level into the senior team this summer and helped them to trophy glory.

Brett finished fourth in the overall bowling averages for the West Midlands Regional Cup with figures of 17-0-63-6.

A four-wicket haul against Cricket Wales played a key part in that victory and in the final she had figures of 7-0-36-2 as the Rapids defeated Staffordshire.
