ACADEMY SHARE SPOILS WITH IRELAND AFTER LOSING T20 DOUBLE HEADER

Worcestershire Academy went down in two T20 matches to Ireland Under-17s in the finale to the County’s five-day tour at Oak Hill CC, County Wicklow.

The Academy were beaten by three wickets in Game One, despite a half century from Ed Bragg and a four wicket performance from Freddie Fallows, and a 29 run margin in Game Two.

The series ended level at 2-2 with Worcestershire having won the two 50 over matches on Monday and Tuesday.

Worcestershire opted to bat in Game One and openers Joe Miszkowski (19) and Matt Davis – 28 off 13 balls with two sixes and three fours – put on 41.

Ben Lees made a useful 17 and the innings was given a real boost by Bragg who made a 35 ball half century with three sixes and four fours.

They totalled 158-7 in their 20 overs.

Josh Baker removed both openers when Ireland launched their reply and then Fallows picked up wickets at regular intervals.

But 51 off 28 balls from S. Lynch and an unbeaten 27 by K. Magee enabled Ireland to win with four balls to spare.

Fallows ended with figures of 4-0-27-4, Baker 2-0-16-2 and Aaron Tomson 2-0-10-1.

In Game Two, Ireland elected to bat first and were restricted to 142-7.

Mitchell Stanley was the most successful Academy bowler (4-0-30-3) and Henry Marshall (4-0-26-2), Baker (3-0-23-1) and Fallows (4-0-12-1) also played their part.

But in reply the Academy were dismissed for 113 in 19 overs with Tomson (24) and Pete Clark (20) their chief contributors.
