ACADEMY PRODUCT WALKER ENDS BPL CAMPAIGN IN STYLE WITH UNBEATEN CENTURY

Worcestershire Academy product, Ollie Walker, finished the Birmingham and District Premier League campaign in style with a century for Himley in their 15 runs win over Harborne.

Walker came to the wicket at 35-3 and finished unbeaten on exactly 100 as he helped Himley to recover to 241-7 in their 40 overs.

He faced only 95 balls and struck three sixes and 12 fours and then chipped in with the wicket of top scorer Swapnil Gugale as Harborne were restricted to 226-9.

Walker’s century followed on from two for the Worcestershire Academy this summer, against Halesowen in the Graham Williamson Trophy and Cricket Wales in the ECB Under-18 County Championship.

Ed Pollock hit 50 off 28 deliveries with three sixes and six fours as Barnt Green (235-4) chased down Halesowen’s 233-5 with 8.2 overs to spare.

Pollock put on 80 for the first wicket and then Jacques Banton (26 not out) helped Barnt Green over the finishing line.

Reeve Evitts made 46 for Kenilworth Wardens who made a valiant attempt to overhaul Moseley’s 379 all out before being dismissed themselves for 346.

Taylor Cornall (2-49) and Jack Haynes (2-7) both picked up two wickets for Ombersley who bowled out Premier Division One champions, Smethwick, for 226.

Haynes dismissed Worcestershire Seconds coach, Kadeer Ali, but Ombersley were then bowled out for 187 despite Cornall (39) and Josh Dell (62) putting on 86 for the first wicket.

There was another sizeable contribution from Rehaan Edavalath in Barnards Green’s eight wicket win over Worfield who were dismissed for 129.

Edavalath made 61 off 63 balls with nine fours as his side reached their target in only 24 overs.
