ACADEMY DUO PLAY KEY PART IN WORCESTERSHIRE XI VICTORY AT WELLINGTON

Academy duo Rehaan Edavalath and Josh Dickenson played important roles for a Worcestershire XI in their 26 run success over Shropshire CC in a 50 over game at Wellington.

Edavalath (40), who has been part of the Academy for the past two years, helped top scorer Xavi Clarke (66) add 115 for the fourth wicket as Worcestershire totalled 204 all out after electing to bat.

Clarke was the more aggressive but Edavalath gave him staunch support as the pair built on a second wicket stand of 56 by Alex Milton (37) and Olly Westbury (12).

The last seven wickets fell for 19 runs but then the Worcestershire bowlers got to work with Dickenson, a member of the Academy for three years, amongst the wickets.

He ended with 3-41 from his full quota of 10 overs with fellow spinner Ben Twohig bowling a tight spell of 1-31 in his 10 overs.

Twohig dismissed opener James Kinder who top-scored with 38 for Shropshire.
Joe Stanley (2-38 in 10), captain Ed Bragg (1-5), Harry Cooke (1-15) and Ben Parker (1-35) were the other wicket-takers.

Shropshire were eventually dismissed for 178 in 47.1 overs.
