Worcestershire’s Henry Cullen, produced a match-winning performance with the bat for Herefordshire who defeated Cheshire by four wickets in a National Counties Championship West Division One match at Brockhampton.
Cullen, who recently signed his first professional rookie contract for Worcestershire, struck an unbeaten 73 as Herefordshire chased down a 264 target in 72.2 overs.
He came to the wicket with the game in the balance at 144-4 and saw Herefordshire over the finishing line and secured a 22 point haul from the game.
Cullen’s 113-ball knock contained nine boundaries and followed on from his half century in the first innings.
Another Academy product in Scotland international spinner, Olly Davidson, enjoyed a successful debut for Herefordshire and ended with match figures of 42.1-5-122-7.
Academy captain, Joe Stanley, picked up three second innings wickets for Shropshire in a Division Two encounter with Cornwall at St. Austell.
His efforts helped reduced Cornwall to 85-6 in pursuit of a 271 target but a century from Christian Purchase revived their fortunes and they secured a one wicket win.
Stanley ended with 3-73 and there was one wicket apiece for Academy team-mates, Ben Parker and Jack Home.
*Jack Warner experienced a five wicket haul for Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) on day one of the ECB Under-18 County Championship Group Two match against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster.
The pace bowler finished with figures of 14.5-0-67-5 but Northamptonshire recovered from 129-5 to total 368 all out in 87.5 overs.
Reeve Evitts (2-70), Harry Darley (1-67), Ismail Mohammed (1-35) and Ben Clarke (1-28) were the other wicket-takers.
Worcestershire lost openers, captain Ismael Mohammed (16) and Rehaan Edavalath (20), in reaching 63-2 by the close.
