Academy in joint top position ahead of trip to Taunton Vale

Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) have climbed into joint first spot in the ECB County Championship Group Two ahead of tomorrow’s (Tuesday’s) encounter with Somerset at Taunton Vale.

The Academy are level on 46 points with Warwickshire after their 174 run success over Gloucestershire at Dumbleton CC.

Warwickshire did reach 50 points but they have been deducted four penalty points for a slow over rate and bottom placed Northamptonshire two penalty points.

Worcestershire will welcome back two of their four players who were involved in the ECB Bunbury Festival at Loughborough last week in batter Alfie Higgins and keeper-batter Joe Porter.

Porter had a particularly successful tournament and twice made crucial knocks to see the Midlands to victory on a couple of occasions.

The Academy have named a 12 strong squad which will be skippered by Ben Clarke and play gets underway on the three days at 11am.
