Worcestershire Rapids opener Gareth Roderick has climbed into the top three run-scorers and is also the leading keeper in terms of dismissals after the latest round of matches in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Roderick’s 47 during a century partnership with Ed Pollock in the home win over Hampshire on Sunday means he has now amassed 385 runs from seven innings at an average of 64.16.
Only Leicestershire’s Sol Budinger (396) and Somerset’s Andrew Umeed (390) are ahead of Roderick before the final group games this week with the Rapids in action against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The Rapids One Day Cup captain, Jake Libby, is not far behind in 11th spot with 331 runs and Pollock (320) is 13th.
Roderick’s four catches and a stumping against Hampshire lifted his overall tally of scalps to 18 in the One Day Cup.
He is now two ahead of Glamorgan’s Will Smale (16) with Surrey’s Joshua Blake on 14 victims.
Pollock said: “Rodders has done brilliant and we work really well together. Generally in the powerplay, I’m going to go a bit faster at the pace bowlers and then the spinners will come on and he will go after them.
“He’s a proper player. I was chatting to him earlier about the hundreds he’s scored for us this year and he is also very reliable behind the gloves.
“The whole way through red ball, 50 over, it suits his game. He just goes out there and bats. He plays spin brilliantly.”
Young Worcestershire paceman Jack Home’s impressive form in the One Day Cup means he is currently amongst the top three wicket-takers in the tournament.
Home has 15 wickets from just four appearances at an average of 13.33.
Only Surrey’s Cameron Steel – 17 in seven innings – and Glamorgan’s Dan Douthwaite – 16 in six – are ahead of Home.
On loan spinner Fateh Singh is joint seventh with 14 wickets at 17.92.
Pollock said: “Jack has been excellent. He keeps surprising us and it is now not a surprise when he does well.”
