COUNTY TRIO HONOURED ON CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT

It was a proud day for Worcestershire trio Rob Jones, Jason Holder and Nathan Smith when they received their County colours (caps) ahead of the opening Vitality County Championship fixture with Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Colours (caps) are awarded to Worcestershire players ahead of making their Championship debut for the club.

Jones, who played Metro Bank One Day Cup cricket on loan from Lancashire last summer, received number 539 on the outfield from Matthew Waite who then delivered a short speech to the batter.

The batter signed a three year contract until the end of the 2026 season.

It was a similar scenario for West Indies star Holder (540) who is available for the opening five Championship matches and who was presented with his colour (cap) by Joe Leach.

Smith (541) completed the trio of presentations and received his colour (cap) from Adam Hose.

The New Zealander, the leading wicket-taker for Wellington in this winter’s Plunket Shield, is available for the entire season to play all formats.
