FREE ADMISSION TO WATCH BUDDING ENGLAND STARS OF FUTURE AT NEW ROAD

Worcestershire members and supporters will have the opportunity to watch the cream of young England talent next month when the Young Lions take on Australia in a Youth Test at New Road.

The first of two Youth Tests is being staged at New Road from September 8 to 11 and admission is free for all four days.

A host of Worcestershire players have played at Young Lions (Under-19s) level in recent years including Josh Baker, Dillon Pennington and Adam Finch in the current squad.

The two Tests will follow on from a five match Youth ODI Series against Australia and two Youth ODIs versus Ireland.

Worcestershire CEO Ashley Giles said: “It’s great that our supporters have the chance to witness at first hand some of the potential stars of the future.

“Many Young Lions players have gone onto become fully fledged international players and the current squad will be looking to stake their claims in that direction.

“It also provides more top class cricket for our members to watch during a packed month at New Road which also includes two County Championship matches.”

Young Lions Head Coach, Mike Yardy, said: “It’s an exciting six months for the Young Lions, starting with a home series against Australia followed by a tour to India and a World Cup in January.

“We toured Australia last winter and it is great for us to be able to compete with them again this summer.”
