REHAAN EDAVALATH TO MAKE NATIONAL COUNTIES DEBUT FOR HEREFORDSHIRE

Worcestershire batter Rehaan Edavalath will make his National Counties debut for Herefordshire in the Western Division encounter with Cheshire at Alderley Edge beginning on Sunday.

Edavalath made his first team debut for Worcestershire in last month’s drawn LV=Insurance County Championship encounter with Derbyshire at New Road.

He showed his promise in making 15 off 62 balls in a second innings rearguard action.

The 19-year-old was also part of the Seconds side which defeated Glamorgan in a Championship fixture at New Road.

But Edavalath has the opportunity to play for Herefordshire with the Seconds not in action next week.

The same applies to keeper-batter Henry Cullen who hit a crucial 68 during a partnership of 144 with centurion Kashif Ali to help the Seconds to a five wicket success.

Cullen makes his first appearance of the summer for Herefordshire and in 2022 hit two half centuries in each innings of the victory over Cheshire at Brockhampton.

It helped secure their only three-day success of the campaign.

Worcestershire Academy player, Olly Walker, is also part of a Herefordshire side showing five changes from last week’s rain-hit draw with Oxfordshire at Eastnor.

Pace bowler Liam Hurt, who picked up four second innings wickets when on trial with the Seconds in their win over Glamorgan, will play for Staffordshire in an Eastern Division fixture with Buckinghamshire at West Bromwich Dartmouth.
