VITALITY BLAST HERO BROWN IMPRESSES WITH FORM AND FITNESS

Assistant Coach Richard Jones is delighted with the form and fitness of Worcestershire pace bowler Pat Brown during the early part of the campaign.

Brown delivered 38.5 overs during the Second Eleven Championship triumph over Derbyshire at Repton School and had figures of 7-95.

It is encouraging to see Worcestershire’s 2018 Vitality Blast hero ahead of the launch of the 2023 T20 competition in two and a half weeks’ time.

Jones said: “Pat said it was the first time in a while that he has been fit at the start of the season to get through some overs, and he has certainly done that in the last two games.

“He is quite high on his workloads over the last couple of weeks, and it is something we will be keeping an eye on.

“But he is a fierce competitor, and it is hard to get the ball out of his hand, particularly with the way he was bowling.

“It is pleasing to see him doing so well. He has been working on a ‘wobble’ seam ball as well, which he has been using really effectively, which makes his stock ball, the away swinger, a bit more threatening.

“To see him run in for as long as he has done the past couple of games, put the ball in the areas he has been doing, has been really, really good.”
