Head Coach Alan Richardson has given his reaction to the drawn LV=Insurance County Championship encounter with Gloucestershire at New Road.
Eight points from the game means Worcestershire will head into a 10 day break before their next fixture lying in second spot behind Durham.
They were set a 301 target in 84 overs by Gloucestershire and were on 51-4 at lunch when the final two sessions were washed out.
Richardson, said: “The weather seems to be a bit of a theme so far this year. I don’t think we’ve played a game that hasn’t been affected by the weather.
“You have to try and dodge the showers and it was frustrating, I guess more so for Gloucestershire than us if I’m honest.
“An up and down game? That would be an understatement! Bit of a roller coaster that first day, one of the longest days I’ve had in terms of cricket.
“It felt like we experienced all kind of emotions throughout that and fair play to Gloucestershire. We got our noses in front early on in the piece and they fought back really well.
“From then on, we had to work really hard to try and keep ourselves in the game. That first day was one hell of a 96 overs.”
Regarding the final day’s play, Richardson said: “There was no discussion about weather this morning. I think that is a dangerous game to play because, if it doesn’t come, you’ve set yourself up for a fall.
“It was about trying to get through that first session and seeing how it went. Gloucestershire bowled well but we didn’t play as well as we liked, so that didn’t happen.”
Richardson felt Worcestershire deserved a greater reward for their bowling during Gloucestershire’s second innings when there was plenty of playing and missing.
He said: “We created some opportunities, especially early on. Unfortunately we didn’t take them and that might have stopped Gloucestershire scoring as quickly as they did.
“Strangely enough we probably bowled collectively better in the second innings, certainly in the last session, than at any stage during this game, and didn’t get our rewards.
“But that’s the beauty of the game and the beauty of sport, that you don’t always get what you deserve. That works both ways.”
After a trio of games, the players will have a chance to recharge their batteries before returning to New Road for the Members Open Training on Thursday from 10am to 1pm.
Richardson said: “We’ve played three games on the bounce, the guys have barely had a day off. They will have a couple of days to get away, some time with the family, and then we will get back into it.” end
