Worcestershire Assistant Head Coach, Kadeer Ali, is looking for batter Kashif Ali to build this summer on the exciting impact he made in his breakthrough season in 2022.
Kashif became the first ever product of the South Asian Cricket Association to sign a contract with a first class county when he moved to New Road.
He made an instant impact with a mountain of runs for the Seconds and impressed Kadeer who was then Seconds coach.
Kashif’s senior breakthrough came in the Vitality Blast, he scored a century on his List A debut against Kent in the Royal London Cup and a fifty versus Derbyshire during his first appearance in the LV=Insurance County Championship.
A broken thumb meant he missed the finale of the season but Kashif has enjoyed a productive winter abroad and is looking to stake a claim for a first team place.
Kadeer said: “He came in firing last summer and scored a lot of runs for the Seconds, including one run when he got something like three hundreds and four fifties in seven innings.
“He played beautifully and when he got his opportunity with the T20 and 50 over sides, he showed his class and his potential.
“It was unfortunate he broke his thumb towards the end of the season but he’s had a good winter.
“He’s been away in Pakistan, playing and training, and then been back for a month training with the lads, getting used to the life of training every day and everything that comes with being a professional cricketer.
“He has been great and had a good week in Desert Springs. He is very exciting and we’ve seen some really good stuff already from Kashif.
“Like every player, he will be looking to stake a claim in whatever team. “
