BRACEWELL AND SANTNER PLAY THEIR PART IN SERIES-CLINCHING WIN FOR BLACK CAPS

Worcestershire’s 2023 Vitality Blast overseas duo, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner, helped New Zealand seal a 2-1 series win over Pakistan by winning the final ODI by two wickets in Karachi.

Bracewell claimed the prized scalp of Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, when bowling him for just four to leave the home side on 21-2 in the seventh over.

The off-spinner ended with figures of 1-44 from 10 overs and he had the best economy rate of any bowler on either side in the series, conceding just 3.90 runs per over.

Pakistan recovered to reach 280-9 thanks to Fakhar Zaman (101) and Mohammad Rizwan (77).

The game was in the balance when Santner came to the wicket with the Black Caps 205-6 in the 39th over.

But the left hander proved to be the perfect foil for big hitting Glenn Phillips (63 not out) in a stand of 64 in 7.2 overs.

Santner was happy to work the ball around for singles in a supporting role and when he was bowled for 15 by Mohammad Nawaz, New Zealand needed only 12 more for victory.

They reached their target with 11 balls to spare.
