SERVICES TO SCORING AWARD FOR WORCESTERSHIRE’S PHIL MELLISH

Worcestershire scorer, Phil Mellish, has been honoured by lifting the Worcestershire Association of Cricket Officials 2022 award for Services to Scoring.

Phil, who currently is Worcestershire official Second XI scorer, received the Ryan Bowler Award at the Society’s annual dinner and presentation evening at Ombersley Golf Club.

The 40-year-old has been officiating at matches for 20 years and previously had stints scoring for the Worcestershire first team and doubling up as analyst on the New Road balcony.

One of the highlights of Phil’s career was being the England scorer for an ODI against Pakistan at Lord’s in 2021.

He also scored a match in The Hundred this year between Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix.

Carshalton born Phil has also been the scorer for Herefordshire CC and matches in the Birmingham Premier Cricket League and Worcestershire County League.

He said: “It was an unexpected honour for me to receive this award and I’d like to thank everyone who has assisted and helped me over the years.

“There is a special bond between scorers and I’ve made some great friendships and been fortunate to witness some marvellous cricket.”
