Worcestershire CCC batter, Jack Haynes, has been included in the England Lions training group for a three-week camp in the UAE next month.
Haynes will be part of a 15-player group from November 6 to 27, the latest international recognition for the 21-year-old.
He was a member of the England Under-19 squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa in January-February 2020 and also played two Under-19 Tests.
Haynes call-up follows from a successful summer for Worcestershire in which he scored three centuries in the LV=Insurance County Championship, including his maiden hundred versus Durham at New Road.
Worcestershire Assistant-Coach, Alan Richardson, said: “We are delighted for Jack and how his game has progressed and developed this summer.
“We always felt that he had the potential and ability to kick on after scoring that maiden century, and that proved to be the case.
“He has started to turn promising knocks into match-winning contributions, and batting with Azhar Ali for long periods has also helped with his development.”
As well as offering developmental experiences to the players selected, the trip will support England Men’s Test preparation for Pakistan, with five members of the Test squad arriving ahead of the Test tour and three pace bowlers joining the group to continue their rehabilitation from injury.
England Men will travel to Abu Dhabi on November 18 and play a three-day practice match against England Lions from November 23-25.
ECB Performance Director Mo Bobat said: “It’s great to be able to recommence Lions developmental experiences, and the camp in Dubai and Abu Dhabi represents a fantastic opportunity for a high potential group of players.
“While we aim to ensure that Lions opportunities are closely aligned to England’s future needs, we also try to be as individualised as possible with our player programming.
“Selection for the camp was conducted in close collaboration with both players and counties, and there are a number of players that have been encouraged and supported to take up other opportunities at home and overseas.
“The camp also supports the England Men’s team in their preparation for Pakistan, allowing England and Lions players to work closely together in overseas conditions.”
