WOMEN’S RAPIDS SPINNER FINISHES AS WEST MIDLANDS CUP LEADING WICKET-TAKER

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner, Flora Bertwhistle, finished as the leading wicket-taker in the West Midlands Regional Cup after a superb campaign.

Bertwhistle had the excellent figures of 30.1-5-78-13 which included two five-wicket hauls, both career best performances.

She returned 5-31 versus Staffordshire in a group encounter at Halesowen CC and bettered that with 5-16 in the final against Cricket Wales at Moseley CC.

Her wickets cost just six runs apiece and she had an economy rate of 2.59 runs per over.

Amy Maund was the next best performer with the ball for the Rapids with an analysis of 20.3-1-74-6 in her first season of senior cricket.

Her best performance was 4-21 in the eight wicket win over Cricket Wales at St. Fagan’s.

On the batting front, the Rapids had three of the top five performers in the list of highest run scorers in the 50 over tournament.

Clare Boycott was the Rapids leading scorer with 170 from four knocks at an average of 85.00 with a top score of 83 not out against Warwickshire Women at Stratford-upon-Avon CC.

Milly Home totalled 151 runs in four innings at 37.50 and captain-keeper Chloe Hill played her full part with 122 at 30.50.

Hill also finished with the most dismissals with five catches and three stumpings.
