NEW SIGNING MATTHEW WAITE JOINS ON LOAN FOR REMAINDER OF 2022 SEASON

New Worcestershire signing, all-rounder Matthew Waite, is available for the final two LV=Insurance County Championship matches of the 2022 season, joining on loan from Yorkshire.

Waite has signed a three-year contract with Worcestershire until the end of the 2025 campaign.

But he will now be able to link up with his new colleagues for the home fixtures with Nottinghamshire, beginning next Tuesday (September 20) and Middlesex (starting September 26).

Waite had a short loan spell at New Road earlier in the season when he had match figures of 25-12-50-6 in the Championship victory over Leicestershire, including a career-best return of 4-35 in the second innings.

The 26-year-old also played in three Vitality Blast matches for the Rapids against Notts Outlaws, Lancashire Lightning and Durham.

Waite said: “I enjoyed my spell at Worcestershire earlier in the season and had already been looking forward to starting work in November ready for next year.

“To be available for the season’s final two games is an added bonus, and I hope I can make an impact.

“I was made to feel really welcome earlier in the season, and this will also give me another opportunity to get to know the players and settle in before we start winter training.”

Worcestershire Cricket Steering Group Chair, Paul Pridgeon, said: “Matthew is a talented cricketer who impressed during his loan spell here and having him back for the final two games is a big plus.

“I know he is keen and hungry to do well here and, being aged 26, hopefully, his best years lie ahead.”
