SECONDS GIVE TRIAL TO BATTER AS THEY WRAP UP CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAMME

Worcestershire Seconds wrap up their Second Eleven Championship programme for 2022 when they take on Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl starting tomorrow (Monday).

Taylor Cornall, part of the side in last week’s LV=Insurance County Championship match with Glamorgan at Cardiff, will captain the side.

Worcestershire are giving a trial to 23-year-old right handed batter, Sam Perry, who has played alongside pace bowler Ben Gibbon for Cheshire in National Counties cricket.

Seconds coach Kadeer Ali said that Wythenshawe born Perry was recommended by former Lancashire Director Of Cricket and player, Mike Watkinson.

He has played a total of 27 matches across all three formats for Cheshire since 2018, including four red ball, four 50 over and nine T20 games this season.

Worcestershire will be hoping for better luck with the weather after the final three days of the match with Lancashire at Kidderminster were washed out.

Henry Cullen will again keep wicket after scoring a SEC best 81 not out on the opening day against Lancashire.
