STANLEY RETURNS TO LEAD ACADEMY IN ECB CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING WITH SOMERSET

Joe Stanley will return to captain Worcestershire CCC Academy in their next ECB Under-18 County Championship encounter with Somerset at Taunton Vale beginning on Tuesday (11am start).

The all-rounder was unavailable for last week’s drawn match against Gloucestershire at Stourbridge while playing for Shropshire in their National Counties Cricket Association Championship (NCCAC) match with Devon at Bridgnorth.

Stanley picked up two wickets in Devon’s first innings and then top-scored with 68 not out for Shropshire in their second innings.

Worcestershire will have several players unavailable for their penultimate game in the competition’s group stages.

Henry Cullen, Olly Davidson and Reeve Evitts remain part of the senior squad for the Royal London Cup, and Ollie Walker is playing for Herefordshire in the NCCAC against Berkshire.

Ben Parker was selected for the England Under-19 squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka Under-19s at Chelmsford but is now sidelined through injury.

Worcestershire are currently lying third in the table, eight points behind leaders Gloucestershire with a game in hand.
