MORE RUNS FOR EDAVALATH AFTER ARSHAD AND MOHAMMED AMONGST THE WICKETS FOR ACADEMY

Bilal Arshad and Ismael Mohammed picked up three wickets apiece to help earn Worcestershire Academy a 127 run first innings advantage on day two of the ECB Under-18 County Championship match with Gloucestershire at Stourbridge.

First innings century-maker, Rehaan Edavalath, then made another sizeable contribution with the bat as Worcestershire closed on 115-5 in their second innings.

It gave them an overall lead of 242 heading into the final day.

Gloucestershire resumed on 16-1 in reply to Worcestershire’s 332 and lost half of their side for 60, with three of the wickets falling to Arshad.

They partially recovered, thanks chiefly to 80 from Max Dunne before he was last out to Ismael Mohammed after the Academy captain had picked up two other scalps.

Gloucestershire were eventually bowled out for 205 in 76.2 overs with Mohammed finishing with figures of 12.2-5-24-3, Arshad 15-4-36-3 and Cameron Jones 16-2-54-2.

Edavalath then made 54 off 71 balls with seven fours and featured in an opening stand of 60 with Mohammed (20).

He was eventually second out at 96 and four wickets fell for eight runs before the close.
