Kashif Ali hit a double century to continue his tremendous run of form for Worcestershire Seconds on day two of the Second Eleven Championship (SEC) match with Somerset at Stourport.
Kashif struck 203 at a run-a-ball with two sixes and 33 fours in the searing heat to lead Worcestershire to 452-7 and a lead of 211 by the close.
He batted for 313 minutes and was finally dismissed to the final ball of the day when he attempted to leave a delivery from Alfie Ogborne but chopped it onto his stumps.
Ogborne was the first to congratulate Kashif after another marvellous innings.
He has now amassed an incredible 727 runs in his last seven SEC innings, which have yielded scores of 80, 74, 108, 82, 106, 74 and 203.
Kashif gradually accelerated with his first 50 taking 77 balls, but he required only another 74 deliveries to score his next 100 runs.
He was given excellent support and featured in stands of 73 with Josh Dell, 120 with Ben Cox, 75 with Henry Cullen and 67 with Rehaan Edavalath.
Worcestershire resumed on 96-2 from 27 overs with play getting underway at 10.30 and the overs again restricted to 88 in the day because of the extreme heat.
Dell completed his half-century from 106 balls with seven fours in another encouraging innings in his comeback from a broken finger.
But on 62, he drove at an away swinger from George Thomas and was caught behind.
Cox came to the wicket and looked in good touch in the first innings since his return to action.
He made 57 off 58 balls with one six and nine fours before he was caught behind down the legside off Ben Green.
Cullen (16) played a support role to Kashif but was annoyed with himself when he went to cut Thomas in the first over after tea and also edged through to the keeper.
Oli Cox made a quickfire 23 before he pushed forward to Green and was pouched at first slip.
But Edavalath will resume tomorrow on 32, with the overs on days three and four extended to 104 per day when the temperatures are expected to relent.
*Worcestershire Academy Captain, Joe Stanley, hit 34, and Reeve Evitts picked up two wickets, but the Midlands (212 all out) went down by four wickets to the North (213-6) in the Super Fours at Loughborough.
*Worcestershire Women’s Rapids Captain Chloe Hill struck 36 for Southern Vipers 2nds, who defeated the Army Women’s X1 by 229 runs in a 40 over-friendly at Aldershot.
