Kashif Ali scored his SIXTH successive fifty-plus score for Worcestershire Seconds in Second Eleven Championship cricket, although it was not enough to prevent a six-wicket defeat against Nottinghamshire at Notts Sports Club.
The middle-order batter came to the wicket in Worcestershire’s second innings at 52-3 and made 74 off 71 balls with three sixes and ten fours in an all out total of 159.
He has amassed 524 runs in those six knocks with two centuries and four half centuries.
But Nottinghamshire chased down their 168 target with a day to spare despite two more wickets for Olly Davidson, which gave the spinner a total of eight in the game.
He finished with match figures of 40-8-168-8.
Worcestershire resumed on 33-0 in their second innings, and Kashif fought a virtual lone hand as wickets tumbled today at regular intervals.
Josh Dell (17) went lbw to England seamer Jake Ball, and Rehaan Edavalath (30) tried to steer away a ball from Zak Chappell, which bounced on him and was caught behind.
Jacques Banton (0) pushed forward to Chappell and was leg before, and Tom Fell (11) departed in the same manner to Jack Peirce, who also had Oli Cox (0) taken at first slip.
Henry Cullen (7) and Adam Finch (0) also edged through to the keeper off James Hayes and Ball, respectively.
Worcestershire captain Pat Brown (4) gave Ball his third wicket after nicking to second slip, and after Ben Gibbon (11) went lbw to Chappell, Kashif went on the offensive.
He struck Peirce for three successive sixes before skying a chance to deep mid-wicket off the same bowler.
When Nottinghamshire batted, Gibbon (6-0-39-1) struck an early blow when Sol Budinger (0) played on.
Davidson then made two breakthroughs in the space of three overs, with Dane Schadendorf (46) bowled via an inside edge and Ben Martindale finding the hands of Brown at square leg.
Brown (12-1-37-10 trapped Ximus du Plooy (18) lbw at 121-4, but that was the last success for the Worcestershire bowlers.
