DELL CONTINUES COMEBACK WITH HALF CENTURY FOR HEREFORDSHIRE IN DRAWN GAME

Worcestershire batter, Josh Dell, continued his comeback from a broken finger by hitting a half century for Herefordshire in their drawn National Counties Championship Western Division One encounter with Dorset at Eastnor.

Dell had struck 72 off 90 balls for Worcestershire Seconds in the first innings of last week’s Championship match with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.

He made his three-day debut for Herefordshire in another opportunity to get in some valuable match practice and hit 36 in the first innings and 66 off 109 balls with 11 fours in the second innings.

Dell put on 120 for the first wicket with Ben Chapman-Lilley (49) as Herefordshire, set a 320 target, closed on 246-5.

The opener had suffered the broken finger during pre-season practice at Kidderminster.

Worcestershire Academy player, Ollie Walker, scored 42 in the first innings and keeper Ben Cullen, who last week signed his first professional rookie contract at New Road, picked up four catches during the game.

Worcestershire left arm seamer, Ben Gibbon, made his first appearance of the season for Cheshire in the same competition against Oxfordshire at Alderley Edge.

He had figures of 8-1-30-0 in the first innings and 16-4-48-1 in the second innings as Cheshire went down by four wickets.

*Spinner Josh Baker made a rare appearance in the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League in the drawn game with Barnt Green.

Baker scored 25 off 27 balls in the Wardens total of 181-6 and picked up one wicket for 26 in seven overs as Barnt Green closed on 102-7.

Oli Cox, who like Cullen has also signed a professional rookie contract for Worcestershire hit 43 with six fours as Himley gained a four wicket win over Wem.
Ollie Walker had figures of 7-3-10-1 as Wem were bowled out for 153.

Tom Fell made a patient 28 off 74 balls as Wolverhampton held on for a draw against Dorridge.
