Kashif Ali demonstrated his potential when top-scoring for Worcestershire Rapids, who went down by five wickets to Yorkshire Vikings in a Vitality Blast encounter at New Road.
The all-rounder, who recently signed his first professional contract – with Worcestershire – made an unbeaten 46 off just 32 balls.
Gareth Roderick also batted impressively, hitting 31 not out from 21 balls and adding an unbroken 73 for the sixth wicket.
But the Rapids again lost too many wickets during the early part of their innings, and a target of 151 was below par despite the green nature of the surface.
Mitchell Stanley and Pat Brown picked up two wickets apiece, but an unbeaten 46 from Tom Kohler-Cadmore helped Yorkshire to victory with 32 balls to spare.
Yorkshire captain, Harry Brook, put the Rapids into bat, and Ed Pollock made a positive start when striking the first ball of the match from Matthew Revis over the mid-wicket boundary.
But he then sliced Matthew Waite, who had a recent loan spell at New Road, into the hands of third man.
In the next over, Brett D’Oliveira drove at Revis and edged through to keeper Jonathan Tattersall.
Jake Libby square-cut Jordan Thompson for his first boundary as the Rapids reached 38-2 at the end of the six-over powerplay.
Rapids captain, Colin Munro, flicked George Hill off his legs to bring up the 50 in the eighth over.
Munro and Jake Libby added 44 before the latter did not connect with a full toss from Dom Bess and was bowled.
Bess (3-15) proved difficult to get away, and he struck again when Munro, on 29, holed out to deep mid wicket, and Ed Barnard then went lbw after aiming a blow on the leg side.
But Kashif and Roderick then counter-acted to good effect.
Kashif, the first product of the South Asian Cricket Academy to sign a contract with a first class county, hit Waite for successive sixes.
Roderick also looked full of positive intent and also cleared the ropes in the same over, which cost 24 runs.
The sixth-wicket pair lifted the total to a more respectable 150-5.
The Rapids aimed to strike early, and Mitchell Stanley broke through in his first over with Pollock holding onto a skier at square leg to dismiss Finn Allen.
Pat Brown then had Adam Lyth taken at mid off, but the Rapids found it difficult to stem the flow of runs.
Brook made a typically aggressive 35 from 21 balls before he picked out mid off against Stanley, and Khan was bowled, aiming a big hit off Brown over cover.
Jonny Tattersall drilled Dwayne Bravo to deep extra cover before Kohler-Cadmore and Thompson saw the Vikings home.
