DWAYNE LOOKING TO HELP RAPIDS END BLAST CAMPAIGN ON HIGH NOTE

Dwayne Bravo wants to help Worcestershire Rapids end the Vitality Blast campaign on a high note, with three of their remaining four matches at New Road.

The Rapids entertain Yorkshire Vikings tomorrow and visit Birmingham Bears on Friday before home encounters with Lancashire Lightning (July 1) and Notts Outlaws (July 3).

West Indies star Bravo showed his class with spells of 2-15 v Northamptonshire Steelbacks and 2-28 versus Derbyshire Falcons.

He said: “It hasn’t been the best start for us obviously in the first few games and has been tough for us.

“But now we have to go and play like a mini tournament in the remaining games.

“We need to ensure we finish on a high and not worry about where we are standing in the table.

“We have to try and get some processes right and try to win some games.”

Bravo has played 538 T20 matches in his distinguished career but insists: “I’m still loving the game. I will carry on as long as my body allows. I’m still enjoying it, and I’m still competing.

“It brings the best out of me, and I’m still having fun. I’m older now and not as quick as before, so I have to top up on my skills and be more accurate and clear in my plans.

“My game is basically designed to shut games down by bowling at the death with different variations.

“It is about my experience and knowledge and the fact I still want to compete and do well and win.

“I still have a lot of pride in my performance and how I play and want to help the Rapids win some games.”

Stand-in captain Colin Munro is also looking for the Rapids to end the campaign on a positive note, and he admitted: “we owe it to the fans.”

The New Zealand star said: “It is not through lack of trying. We are having the right conversations, and we are not quite taking it onto the park yet.

“Our fans at home need a bit of love. We need to go out there and play for them and make sure we put some good performances on the board.

“What we have put together so far have been bits and pieces which have been good, but we just haven’t put together a complete performance, except for that Birmingham Bears game.

“Even if you are not quite at your best, you still need to find a way to get to a score or whatever the case might be, and at the moment, we are not doing that.

“We just need to be a bit better, a bit more hungry, a bit smarter and just respect the game a bit more.”

The Rapids have named a 14-strong squad – the 11 players selected for the washed-out game versus Northamptonshire Steelbacks plus Taylor Cornall, Josh Baker and Adam Finch.
