MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS HISTORY TALK ON NEW CATHEDRAL STAND TIMELINE

Worcestershire’s Heritage Co-Ordinator Tim Jones will be giving a talk to Members and Supporters on the new timeline situated on the back of the Cathedral Stand during the lunch interval on day one of the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Glamorgan at New Road.

Tim has put together 50 points illustrating some of the great and unique occasions in the club’s history but also celebrating some of the players who may not be classified as all-time greats but produced outstanding performances worthy of celebration.

Any Member or Supporter attending day one of the Glamorgan game next Sunday (June 26) is welcome to attend and listen to Tim’s thoughts and explanation of what the timeline is all about.

He said: “I’m going to give a bit of a talk and an update to members and supporters on the timeline – what’s it about, how we’ve arrived at it, what is it there to do, so looking forward to that.

“It is another stopping-off point for people on the ground to engage with the club’s history, which is so important.

“People might look at it and think ‘I didn’t realise that’ and it is all part of coming to the game and adds something to your day.

“There are 50 points, and you can debate whether someone or something should have got on there or not, but it’s a preference thing.

“It is an add-on to the Colours Board whereby this is a 50-point timeline of momentous occasions during our history and some unique events during our history.

“Also, it’s a celebration of some of the players who aren’t perhaps regarded as the ‘greats’ of Worcestershire cricket but deserve their name and day in the sun mentioned. It is a nice way to celebrate that.

“There are some unique things, and it just adds a little flavour and helps people understand the history a little bit more and recognise some of the players and events that are important to the club.”
