Following some recent unfortunate cases, Worcestershire County Cricket Club is keen to reiterate that the Club holds a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse and discrimination in all its forms.
Personal abuse of staff, players, officials, supporters, or opposition – will not be tolerated, and the Club will take a proactive stance in dealing with incidents of abuse and discrimination, whether online or in person.
While the vast majority of our supporters show humanity and respect – even in criticism – the Club has received reports of several incidents in which comments have crossed the line into abuse and threats, this is simply unacceptable and will never be tolerated.
We are committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all our staff, members, and supporters.
In December 2021, the Club announced that it was teaming up with West Mercia Police and encouraged anyone witnessing any form of abuse to report it via their dedicated channels.
The Club has followed this process and individuals involved in recent cases of abuse and threats have been written to stating that they are not permitted at New Road for any event.
We have processes in place internally at Worcestershire to ensure our staff are supported both emotionally and practically on such issues, and the Club will carry on supporting those affected.
Worcestershire County Cricket Club will continue to work with all relevant authorities to help make sport a safer and more enjoyable environment for all.
