MOEEN ALI NAMED IN ENGLAND SQUAD MAKING HISTORY AGAINST THE NETHERLANDS

Moeen Ali will be part of an England Men’s squad making history when they travel to take on The Netherlands in a three match ODI Series next month.

The Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain and his England Men’s team-mates will be participating in an ODI Series against their opponents for the first time.

Moeen is part of a 14 strong squad for the three internationals between June 17 and 22 and it will be England Men’s first 50 over cricket since last July.

It is the first squad since Matthew Mott was appointed England Men’s White-Ball Head Coach.

The ODI series, which forms part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, starts a busy period for Moeen and England.

They also have Royal London Series against India and South Africa scheduled for later this summer.

Lancashire seamer Luke Wood, a former Worcestershire loan player during the 2018 Vitality Blast triumph, and Gloucestershire paceman David Payne are the uncapped players named in the squad.

Mott said: “This is a historic occasion for the sport and the first time England Men have played The Netherlands in an ODI series. We can’t wait to head over to Amsterdam and put on a show for the thousands of fans travelling to support the team.

“The ODI side has had limited opportunities and last played in July. However, with about 18 months to the next ICC 50 over World Cup in India, our preparation will start ramping up with nine matches over the summer and a busy winter ahead against strong opponents.”
