TWO FIFTIES FOR ISMAIL MOHAMMED AS ACADEMY EXPERIENCE MIXED FORTUNES

Ismail Mohammed struck a half-century for Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) in each of their two T20 matches with Northamptonshire Under-18s at Oundle School.

The opener hit 54 in Game One, an ECB County Cup match which
Northamptonshire won by five runs and then 53 in Game Two, a friendly in which Worcestershire came out on top by 18 runs.

Worcestershire were twice strong favourites to win Game One before eventually being edged out.

Northamptonshire opted to bat but were 55-7 at one stage before recovering to reach 125-8 with skipper Joe Stanley, 4-0-14-2, Bilal Arshad 3-0-17-2, Sam Keeling-Wright, 2-0-12-2, Ollie Walker, 4-0-16-1, and Ben Clarke, 4-0-23-1, sharing the wickets.

Ismail Mohammed and Walker put on 51 for the first wicket in eight overs, and Worcestershire reached 78-1 in the 14th over, but they were unable to close the game out.

Ismail was eventually dismissed for 54 off 55 balls with two sixes and five fours in the penultimate over as Worcestershire closed on 120-8.

In Game Two, Ismail and Walker both scored half-centuries as Worcestershire posted 137-3 after choosing to bat.

Ismail dominated an opening stand of 77 before he fell for 53 off 43 balls with three sixes and four fours.

Walker went on to make 61 from 50 deliveries with four sixes and four fours.

Stanley again returned excellent figures with the ball of 4-0-20-2 along with Imaad Mahmood, 4-0-21-2 as Northamptonshire were restricted to 119-8. There was one wicket apiece for Ismail, 1-0-8-1, Jack Warner, 3-0-16-1, Arshad, 3-1-16-1, and Clarke, 4-0-28-1.
