WOMEN’S RAPIDS BATTER FINISHES AS SECOND HIGHEST SCORER IN T20 TOURNAMENT

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids batter, Georgina Macey, finished as the second highest scorer in the entire ECB Women’s County Championship T20 competition.

Macey scored 295 runs in her eight innings, including three half centuries, at an average of 36.88 and a strike rate of 117.06.

Her run total was only surpassed in the eight T20 groups by Lancashire’s Georgie Boyce with 306 from the same number of innings.

Macey struck 70 against Shropshire in the semi-final, 55 against the same opponents in the group stages when she also hit 51 versus Berkshire.

Her efforts helped the Women’s Rapids to win Group Two finals day at Falkland CC in Berkshire after topping the group.

All-rounder, Emily Arlott, was the next highest scorer with 177 runs at an average of 59 from seven innings, including four not outs, and a strike rate of 112.74.

Ellie Anderson finished as the Women’s Rapids leading wicket-taker with eight victims at an average of 12.00 and an economy rate of 5.76.

She produced her best figures in the final with 3-20 against Staffordshire.

A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament and the Women’s Rapids will be back in action later in the summer in 50 over cricket.
