Brett D’Oliveira has made a superb start with the bat as Worcestershire’s new Club Captain during the opening batch of LV=Insurance County Championship matches.
The all-rounder heads the batting averages after the opening batch of six games before the break from red ball cricket for the Vitality Blast.
D’Oliveira has scored two centuries against Leicestershire and Sussex and several other valuable contributions and has amassed 445 runs at an average of 89.00.
Overseas signing, Azhar Ali, has also made his mark with 499 runs, including four successive scores of fifty or more, including a magnificent double hundred in the return game with Leicestershire.
But the leading run-scorer to date is Jack Haynes, who has hit a century in each of the last three Championship games.
He has amassed 526 runs at an average of 65.75
Ed Barnard has also made a sizeable contribution, including a superb 163 not out versus Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, and he is also Worcestershire’s leading wicket-taker.
The all-rounder has claimed 16 scalps, two more than fellow pace bowler Charlie Morris and spinner Josh Baker.
