Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s New Road ground is to host the Birmingham & District Premier League’s Graham Williamson Trophy Final this Sunday, 1 May at 12.30pm.
Entry to the fixture is free, with Worcestershire’s Academy set to take on Smethwick Cricket Club, with both sides competing in the final of the competition for the first time.
Current Birmingham & District Premier League (Twenty20) Challenge Cup holders Smethwick brushed aside fellow Premier Division One side Kidderminster by eight wickets yesterday, and Worcestershire’s Academy defeated last season’s runners-up Ombersley by 74 runs to reach the final.
Spectators will be able to enter New Road from 11.30am on the day of the game, with pay and display parking available in the Severn Bridge car park (hotel side of the ground). Access to the ground will be through the main gates, located at the bottom of the Severn Bridge car park.
The Graeme Hick Pavilion will be open from 11.30am, serving a range of food and drinks to cater for all.
Worcestershire’s official YouTube channel will be streaming the fixture live so viewers from across the area and beyond can follow all of the action if they’re unable to make it in person.
Worcestershire Chair Fanos Hira commented, “It is a real privilege to host this important final and underlines the importance our Club places on the grassroots game.
“Hopefully, we can help showcase the quality of the Birmingham & District Premier League to a broader audience, either through spectators at New Road or via our live stream for those unable to make it in person.
General Manager of the Birmingham & District League Nick Archer added, “The League welcomes the opportunity to stage the Final of the Graham Williamson Trophy at New Road and is very appreciative of Worcestershire CCC’s offer to host the game.
“Over the years, the League has benefitted from strong links with all the First Class and National Counties in the West Midlands area, but this will strengthen the relationship with Worcestershire even further.
“Hopefully, it will draw interest from casual spectators as well as those members from Smethwick who will be attending the match and the proposal to Live Stream it should add a touch more to its interest.”
