JOSH BAKER AMONGST THE WICKETS ON SHORTENED FINAL DAY AT PORTLAND ROAD

Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker was amongst the wickets and there were promising displays with the ball from young duo, Reeve Evitts and Ben Parker, on the final day of the three-day fixture with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.

Baker added two more scalps this morning to give him overall figures of 11-0-41-3 after a morning spell of 5-0-13-2.

Two more Academy products in Evitts and Parker were also rewarded for probing spells with a wicket apiece.

Warwickshire advanced from their overnight 190-4 to 253-8 before declaring and setting Worcestershire a 277 target in a minimum of 74 overs.

They reached 16-1 from eight overs by lunch but that was the end of proceedings as steady rain started to fall during the interval and led to the game being abandoned at 2.30pm.

Evitts made the first breakthrough of the day when bowling Ethan Brookes (18) during a spell of 1-10 from six overs.

Baker came into the attack and struck twice in four overs in bowling Adam Hose (66) and having Ollie Stone (9) lbw.

In between Parker bowled Manraj Johal (1) and his morning figures were 4-3-1-1.

Worcestershire captain and first innings century-maker, Jack Haynes, was caught behind off Stone for a single.

Tom Fell and Jacques Banton saw Worcestershire safely through to lunch before play was eventually called off.
