Worcestershire CCC Academy product, Ben Parker, demonstrated his potential with the ball on day two against Oxford UCCE in The Parks as his side obtained a first-innings lead of 130.
Parker came on second change and picked up two of the first three wickets to fall during his opening five-over spell after Worcestershire had declared on their overnight 371-4.
The 18-year-old, a member of the 2021-2022 Academy intake, enjoyed his first success in his second over when Imran Malik (4) played forward to a delivery that moved away and was caught behind.
Parker, part of the Royal London Cup squad last summer, struck again when opener Joe Gordon (38) was beaten by a ball that nipped back in and was bowled.
The initial spell from the fast bowler produced figures of 5-1-23-2, and his double success followed on from Worcestershire newcomer, Ben Gibbon, striking with the new ball.
His first wicket for Worcestershire came when the left armer trapped Jamie Harrison (12) lbw.
Former Worcestershire Academy player Callum Lea and Christopher McBride added 60 for the fourth wicket.
Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira came into the attack and had Lea (29) lbw after pushing forward while Ed Barnard found the edge of McBride’s bat on 37 with keeper Gareth Roderick taking a low catch.
There was another success for D’Oliveira as Karan Parmar (15) went for a sweep and top-edged a straightforward catch for Roderick.
Toby Greatwood (16) swiped a delivery from Jacques Banton to wide mid-on, and then Charlie Morris was rewarded as Jacob Gordon (39) fell to a low catch by Taylor Cornall at mid-wicket.
Roderick’s fourth catch of the innings enabled Gibbon to claim a second wicket as Conner Haddow (12) could only nick a testing delivery.
D’Oliveira wrapped up the innings at 241 in 92.1 overs when he tossed up a delivery to Joe Millard (14), who was caught at slip.
It gave him figures of 20.1-4-41-3 while Gibbon finished with 15-2-47-2 and Parker 15-5-53-2.
