Worcestershire newcomer, opener Cornall Taylor, marked his first appearance for the club with an excellent 84, and then Jack Haynes struck an impressive century on day one of the three-day encounter with Oxford UCCE in The Parks.
Left-hander Cornall confirmed the promise he had shown when scoring a century for the Seconds against Yorkshire Seconds at Scarborough at the end of last season.
He featured in an opening stand of 114 with Gareth Roderick and added a further 61 with Jack Haynes.
All the front-line batters contributed, with new Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira hitting 58 before Haynes went to three figures.
Worcestershire had moved onto 371-4 from 95 overs after electing to bat by the close.
Cornall reached his half-century off 104 balls with eight fours and looked set for a hundred until he aimed a cut at a ball angled across him by Christopher McBride and edged through to the keeper.
In total, Taylor hit 11 boundaries and faced 161 deliveries.
Roderick had a good workout in the middle and dominated the scoring in the early stages but had been overtaken by Taylor when the 100 partnership came up in 24.5 overs.
After making 45 off 76 balls with five fours, Roderick went to pull a delivery from Toby Greatwood and spooned a comfortable catch to mid-wicket.
Haynes, who has spent the past two months playing club cricket in South Africa, also took the opportunity to find some rhythm on a glorious sunny day.
He swept spinner Conner Haddow for the first six of the innings to bring up the 200 in the 53rd over.
New Worcestershire Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira, also cleared the ropes as he pulled a short ball from Karan Parmar over wide long on.
Haynes completed an 82 ball half-century with a cover drive for two off Hugo Whitlock.
Worcestershire reached 238-2 off 61 overs at tea, with Haynes unbeaten on 55 and D’Oliveira 33 not out.
The third-wicket pair continued to prosper in the final session with D’Oliveira’s half-century made from 80 deliveries with one six and two falls and the century partnership off 154 balls.
He eventually holed out on 58 to mid on off a Parmar full toss with the stand worth 120.
But Haynes continued to prosper and went to three figures with the second over with the new ball when he pulled Whitlock for his sixth four.
It came off 152 balls and also contained two sixes.
His fine knock ended shortly before the close on 127 when Haddow bowled him. He faced 177 deliveries and struck two sixes and ten boundaries.
*Worcestershire will also take on Hampshire in a two-day at the Ageas Bowl starting on Thursday.
Worcestershire will bat for the first 60 overs of the opening day and bowl for the final 30. They will then bowl for the first 60 overs on day two and bat for the last 30.
