WORCESTERSHIRE OVERSEAS SIGNING AZHAR ALI LEADS WAY WITH RUN TALLY FOR PAKISTAN

Since the beginning of this decade, Worcestershire overseas player, Azhar Ali, has scored more Test runs than any other Pakistan batter.

Azhar, set to play red-ball cricket for Worcestershire throughout the summer, has amassed 1,021 Test runs since January 1, 2020, at an average of 48.61.

It is a testament to his consistency, and he went past 1,000 runs during that period with his magnificent 185 during the current First Test with Australia in Rawalpindi.

It was his third Test century since the start of 2020 after his 141 not out against England at the Ageas Bowl in August 2020 and 126 versus Zimbabwe at Harare in May 2021.

Azhar has also hit three half-centuries during that period, and his run aggregate puts him ahead of Abid Ali (859 at 39.04), Babar Azam (790 at 43.88) and Mohammad Rizwan (786 at 46.23).

His century against Australia was his 19th in 92 Tests since making his debut nearly 12 years ago.

Azhar is closing in on 7,000 Test runs, and his current total stands at 6,906 at an average of 43.43.

He is scheduled to make his Worcestershire debut in the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Leicestershire at the Uptonsteel County Ground beginning on April 7.
