HAYNES FLYING HOME AFTER ENDING SPELL IN SOUTH AFRICA ON A HIGH NOTE

Worcestershire batter, Jack Haynes, ended his spell with Green Point on a successful note by hitting an unbeaten half-century and helping them to victory in a Western Province Premier League fixture.

Haynes smashed 61 not out from just 46 balls with four sixes and five fours as Green Point chased down Western Province CC’s total of 88 all out in quickfire time.

They required only 14.1 overs to reach their modest target, thanks mainly to the big-hitting of Haynes.

The 21-year-old will now fly home after his two-month spell in South Africa and is scheduled to arrive back in England late on Tuesday evening.

Haynes said: “It was nice to finish my time with Green Point with a win and put together a decent knock to help them to victory.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and it has been a great experience playing in different conditions in another country.

“Everyone has made me feel so welcome, but now I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at New Road and continuing preparations for the new season.”

Pace bowler Dillon Pennington arrived back with Worcestershire last week after his two-month stint with Adelaide CC.
