MORE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET AT NEW ROAD AS SOUTH AFRICA TAKE ON ENGLAND LIONS

South Africa are heading to New Road this summer as part of an ever-increasing feast of international cricket for Worcestershire Members and supporters to enjoy during 2022.

The tourists will take on the England Lions in a 50 over encounter on Thursday, July 14, starting at 11am.

It is the second of two 50 over games for the tourists before they face England in three ODIs at Durham, Manchester and Leeds, so a top-notch line-up is guaranteed to entertain supporters at New Road.

But they will also have the opportunity to watch the cream of England’s up and coming talent with the Lions regular visitors to New Road since they were rebranded from England ‘A’ in 2007.

The first-ever England Lions fixture was staged at New Road in 2007, and it has a connection with the current set-up at New Road.

Worcestershire Head Coach Alex Gidman, then a Gloucestershire player, was part of that side that did battle with the West Indies and scored 34.

The Worcestershire trio of Vikram Solanki, Gareth Batty and Kabir Ali were also members of the Lions line-up.

This year’s game is the latest international fixture to be announced for New Road.

England Women will take on South Africa Women in a Vitality IT20 Series encounter at New Road on July 23.

In September, the England Under-19s will face Sri Lanka in two 19ODIs at New Road on September 5 and 8.

Admission for the Lions-South Africa game will be FREE to members, with general admission costing just £10 for adults and £1 for juniors.

Hospitality in The View Executive Suite is priced at £20 to members and £30 for non-members and includes a hot and cold buffet and unlimited tea and coffee throughout the day.
