Worcestershire fast bowler, Dillon Pennington, made a double breakthrough with the new ball to bring Adelaide CCC back into contention on day one of the SACA Premier Cricket first grade match with Tea Tree Gully.
Pennington struck in successive overs and delivered a nine over opening spell to help reduce Tea Tree Gully to 54-3 from 24 overs in reply to Adelaide’s 168 all out in 69.2 overs.
The former England Under-19 player made the initial breakthrough with 22 on the board with the first ball of his fifth over.
He dismissed Zac Worden (4) who was caught off an edge in the point region.
There had been no addition to the score when Pennington enjoyed a further success in his next over.
He produced a fine delivery to bowl Fletcher Pannell for a duck.
Pennington continued to probe away and finally came out of the attack with excellent figures of 9-2-18-2.
It was the latest in a series of consistent performances by the 23-year-old during his two month stint with Adelaide.
He now has overall bowling figures for Adelaide of 61-8-258-13 at an average of 19.85.
Pennington had gone in at number nine and scored 11 with one boundary after Adelaide opted to bat.
The match will be concluded next Saturday (February 26).
Worcestershire batsman, Jack Haynes, was dismissed for 10 when playing for Green Point CC in the Western Province Cricket Association Premier League match with Cape Town CC.
